If you have the sort of Internet connection that dynamically assigns an IP address to your computer, then TrueIP is something for you. This simple little utility can show you your internal and external IP addresses and it can also log the IPs assigned to your machine. Despite its simple appearance, the application can still do a few interesting things for you.
The application is offered completely free of charge. It can be used on almost any Windows platform, without any kind of difficulties. You don't have to meet any special requirement and you can run the application even on older hardware.
TrueIP comes with a compact user interface, which displays all your local addresses, as well as your external address. You can also find your computer's hostname and aliases in separate fields. The application refreshes the information automatically, but you can refresh it manually if you need to. Additionally, you can copy individual pieces of information, but you can also copy everything at once, with a single click.
Right clicking the application's system tray icon will reveal a few other options, for showing your external address quickly, in the same region of the screen, copying this address, bringing up the main interface and accessing the application's general settings menu.
You can find a good number of useful options in the general settings menu. The software can be set to perform a series of actions when your external IP changes. Based on your settings, it can send you an email, post the information to your TrueIP online account, upload it to a FTP server or simply display a notification popup in the tray area.
With TrueIP running on your computer, you will always know your internal and external IP addresses and when they change.
Pros
The application lets you see your internal and external IP addresses. It can also notify you in various ways when your external address changes. The software is lightweight and you can have it up and running in no time.
Cons
There are no obvious drawbacks to mention.
